As of November 2025, I work as the program manager for advanced undergraduate research programs at the University of Washington.
Supporting advanced programming
In my role, I support our competitive Washington Research Foundation Fellowship and Levinson Emerging Scholars programs, dedicated to providing academic and research funds toward bio-technological undergraduate research projects, awarding nearly $200,000 each year to these advanced researchers. In addition, I oversee the Undergraduate Research Conference Travel Award, an initiative to support and encourage undergraduate researchers in research dissemination by participating in conferences nationally and internationally-awarding up to $30,000 each year. With such, I also support advanced researchers in preparing for such programs, graduate school, and more, through one-on-one advising. Finally, I serve as a reviewer and member of institutional, national, and international fellowships and scholarships, including the Mary Gates Research Scholarship, the Barry Goldwater Scholarship, the Fulbright Fellowship, and multiple others.
Annual undergraduate research symposium
The UW Undergraduate Research Symposium is one of-if not the- largest undergraduate research presenting opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. In-support of this invaluable presenting opportunity for undergraduate researchers, I oversee application review processes for the over 1,500 applications received yearly; lead recruitment and organization of nearly 200 volunteers; support intense marketing and social media campaigns throughout the event (from application announcement, to showcasing presentations, and more); coordinate the 800 poster presentations of the four presenting opportunities; and generally support other areas of the event.
General marketing, advancement, and education
Outside of supporting advanced programming and the annual, all-team, event, I also support marketing, advancement, and education (outreach) initiatives with the Office of Undergraduate Research. Supporting our institutions commitment to research as an experiential learning opportunity, I help in marketing (social, web) through storytelling, graphic design, and analytics. In addition, I support our annual giving campaigns through utilization of marketing and graphic design ability and talent. Finally, I support general research education for undergraduates through regular event and classroom visits.
